Engineering Division of Public Works Department

The Engineering Division of the Public Works Department works in accordance with sound engineering principles and practices providing oversight, roadway design and construction, rural road design, operation, maintenance, and implementation of infrastructure and program needs for Douglas County in compliance with adopted criteria, policies, and procedures, including the 2040 Transportation Master Plan.  This includes the following:

  • Review and approval of construction plans and reports for new development of subdivisions and commercial site plans
  • Capital improvement projects
  • Road Construction
  • Grading, drainage and erosion control (GESC)
  • Drainage, erosion and sediment control (DESC)
  • Temporary access
  • Special event permits (excluding building permits)
  • Inspection of the construction of public infrastructure
  • Transportation Engineering and Traffic Operations
  • Management of Stormwater
