Establishes the cause and manner of death for sudden or unexpected deaths, or persons not attended by a physician at the time of death, including investigations of deaths from accidents, acts of violence or other special circumstances.
Responsible for implementing policies set by the Board of County Commissioners, recommending improved management practices, and directing county operating divisions.
Provides legal advice and representation to the Board of County Commissioners, and all other County elected officials, County Manager, department and division heads, and appointed commissions, boards, and committees.
Conduct Douglas County's elections in a fair and accurate, manner and maintain accurate voter registration records.
Manages and maintains county facilities, and fleet assets and provides a safe, secure, comfortable, efficient, and sustainable environment for citizens and employees.
Provide functional facilities to accommodate a diversity of activities including civic, recreational, entertainment, business, traditional youth activities and the annual County Fair.
Provides all necessary accounting, approval of vouchers by the Board of County Commissioners, payroll, purchasing, sales tax rates, and information to County departments and citizens.

Supports County departments by providing recruitment and selection, compensation, benefits administration, training, and employee relations.
Provides assistance for childcare, employment, energy, food, financial, medical, mental health, and emergency/general assistance.

Registers vehicles and issues license plates and driver licenses to County citizens at three office locations.
Seeks to enhance the quality of life for residents by protecting wildlife habitats and natural resources in our public access properties, trails, historic sites and scenic views.
Serves as stewards for resource management by providing the design, development, maintenance, and patrol of all Douglas County local and regional parks and regional trail systems.
Evaluates land-use proposals for conformance with the regulations and Comprehensive Master Plan goals and policies.
Performs the functions and exercises the powers conferred by Title 38 of the Colorado Revised Statutes.
Maintains County road and drainage system infrastructure in compliance with the 2040 Transportation Plan.
Responsible for recording, indexing, copying, and preserving permanent public documents, primarily real estate records.

State law requires the County Surveyor to create and maintain a plat records file and indexing system for all survey plats.
Bills and collects property taxes based on assessed valuations provided by the Assessor and mill levies set by taxing authorities, and is responsible for all internal and external banking relationships.
Provides access to benefits, services and military retiree information, including resources, emergency funds and property tax exemptions for veterans and their families.
Coordinates local youth-serving efforts and assessing the needs of the youngest residents by envisioning a community in which youth are involved, valued, productive, protected and healthy.
