Community Services

Faith-Based

In 2015, the County initiated a dialogue with local church leaders to strengthen partnerships and serve vulnerable populations.  Meetings resulted in a Faith-Based Partnership with local churches and church leaders to collectively identify and address the needs of residents in Douglas County.  The Board of Douglas County Commissioners welcomes the participation of all our local faith communities to participate on one of our active projects.

CarePortal

CarePortal creates connection between families, churches and the community to meet the needs of vulnerable children. CarePortal is a technology-connecting platform that brings the needs of hurting children and families in your community to your attention.  Caseworkers uncover the needs.  CarePortal makes local churches and community members aware, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond.  For more information on how your church can support CarePortal in Douglas County, please visit https://www.careportal.org/

Foster Care and Adoption

Churches have traditionally been strong supporters of children through foster care and adoption.  Douglas County’s churches are no exception. For more information on how your church can support children, visit https://www.collaborativefostercare.com/

Invocation

Citizens who are leaders of an organized group or congregation that regularly meets in Douglas County now have an opportunity to deliver an invocation, up to 2 minutes in duration, at the Commissioners’ Business Meetings, on the second or fourth Tuesday of each month.  Those interested can submit an online interest form.

Pastors' Roundtable

Douglas County’s Board of County Commissioners gather four times each year with local church pastors to discuss the emerging needs of our residents and identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership.  Meetings in 2022 are scheduled for March 24, May 26, September 1 and November 3 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. For more information, or to receive an invitation to the Pastors’ Roundtables, please email [email protected]
