Project Update

Updated Jan. 17, 2024:

The revised design alternative must:

  • Be compatible with Arapahoe County’s Inverness Drive West Bike and Pedestrian Facilities Project, which is located immediately to the north of our project limits.
  • Minimize construction impacts as well as utility relocations; and requires installing new traffic signals at the existing closely spaced intersections.
  • Project limits will likely be expanded to include a mill and overlay of the existing pavement on County Line Road between the southbound I-25 off-ramp and the South Valley Highway / Inverness Way South / Inverness Parkway Intersection.

In 2024, the local agencies will work on developing a funding plan that will hopefully allow construction to begin in 2025 or 2026. Additionally, the parties will focus on revising the construction documents, acquiring additional right-of-way, and relocating impacted utilities.

Description

The project involves making multi-modal, safety, and traffic operational improvements at the two existing closely spaced intersections and improving the westbound County Line Road to the northbound I-25 on-ramp entrance. Also, as part of this project, new traffic signals will be installed at both existing intersections.

Since the original design that was taken to 60% complete plans was significantly more expensive than originally anticipated, ($10 million), in 2022, representatives from the Inverness Metro Improvement District, Arapahoe County, and Douglas County have decided to advance a more affordable alternative (to cost approximately $6 million instead).

Construction is anticipated to start in 2025 or 2026.
