Are you the green thumb your friends go to for gardening advice? Consider making it official by becoming a Colorado Master Gardener with training from Colorado State University.
Colorado Master Gardener applications are open Sept. 1 through Oct. 16. Apply at cmg.extension.colostate.edu. Applications will be reviewed by the Douglas County CSU Extension Office.
The Colorado Master Gardener program is a unique intersection between university horticulture expertise and community volunteers interested in educating locally using research-based horticulture information. Volunteers are hands-on in educational school gardens, help grow food for local communities, and answer questions from home gardeners.
Initial training includes 15 classes focused on Colorado’s unique soils, plants, climate, and gardening challenges. Learn more and apply at cmg.extension.colostate.edu.
If you want Colorado-specific gardening information but don’t have time to volunteer, mark your calendar for November, when early-bird registration opens for CSU Extension’s “Green School,” which includes access to 14 self-paced online classes, including live weekly review with CSU subject matter experts.
Visit the CSU Extension website for more information and registration.
