Watch for overnight closures of C-470 on-ramp and Yosemite Street near Park Meadows Nov. 17

Closures necessary for safe bridge placement as part of the C-470 Trail project

If your overnight travel takes you to the interchange of C-470 and Yosemite Street near Park Meadows, please read this update.

As part of the C-470 Trail project, two pedestrian bridges are being installed – one over the C-470 on-ramp at Yosemite and one over Yosemite Street. To safely install the bridges, overnight full closures are necessary.

From 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, to 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, a portion of Yosemite Street and the C-470 on-ramp will be fully closed. In the event of unforeseen circumstances preventing the completion during a single night, the closure may occur again overnight on Friday, Nov. 18, to complete the installation.

Motorists will be detoured during this closure. See map and detailed detour information below.

Detour information:

Weather or unforeseen circumstances can occasionally cause delays or schedule changes. Visit the County’s Traffic Alerts web page for the most accurate information about this closure and all planned traffic impacts.

The bridges will be hoisted in place over Yosemite Street and the C-470 on-ramp, using a crane. The bridges were manufactured off site and delivered to the construction site in six sections. They have been assembled on-site and will be installed during these closures.

Project Overview

In late 2021, Douglas County began installation of two pedestrian bridges with the extension of a multi-use trail/sidewalk on the north side of Yosemite Street and the C-470 on-ramp. This project is expected to continue through 2022.

The current trail requires pedestrians and cyclists to cross at the busy intersection of Yosemite Street and C-470. The new pedestrian bridges will reroute the trail over this intersection and create a safer, more convenient connection for pedestrians and cyclists. This extension also provides a new 10-foot-wide multi-use trail and will improve mobility by reducing congestion and traffic delays on Yosemite Street related to C-470 trail users interfacing with motorists.
