Please read the information below to film on public property, open spaces, or parks in unincorporated Douglas County.
To film on private property, please contact the owner of that property. For family, senior, wedding or other types of photography you do not need a permit, but it is recommended to check ahead to see if the area you plan to shoot is reserved.
Filming, either still photography or motion filming, will not be permitted if any of the following apply:
Filming may also require a Special Event Permit if filming is taking place on or near public roadways or rights-of-way within unincorporated Douglas County. Special events may include events taking place away from a road which, due to the number of persons in attendance, creates traffic congestion on a road before or after the event. Still Photography, such as photographs of scenery or wildlife for magazine articles, advertisements, books, postcards, etc., does not require a filming permit. Still photography is not allowed at locations where members of the public are generally not allowed.
Moving Photography (filming) could require a Special Event Permit when documentaries, television programs, feature films, advertisements, wildlife filming, or similar projects do not fall under casual use. Please complete the form below with the production detail of the film.
Casual Use does not require a filming permit. Casual use does not cause appreciable damage or disturbance to public lands or property and is typified by an individual or group of individuals taking pictures, either still or moving.
News Coverage does not require a filming permit by members of the media for the purpose of broadcasting on news programs.
Student Filming projects do not require a filming permit as long as the activity does not take place on or near public roadways or rights-of-way within unincorporated Douglas County.
