Are you looking for a fun and educational way to spend time with your family this summer? Consider taking your children or grandchildren on a Douglas County adventure that dates back to the last Ice Age.
Free tours of Lamb Spring Archaeological Preserve, a world-renowned historical site in Douglas County, are available at 9 a.m. one Saturday each month from May through October. The first available tour date is 9 a.m. Saturday, May 20.
Guided tours will take you through the prehistoric resting site of mammoth, horse, camel, bison, and sloth. You’ll also learn about artifacts left behind by early humans, which are helping to shape the history of the North American Continent.
Those interested in attending a tour are required to RSVP in advance. The tour includes a short hike. Guests may bring a chair for the initial presentation in the Lamb Spring parking area. No restrooms or water are provided on the tour.
