Are you a parent of a child with a unique medical or behavioral health need? Or do you work with children with special health care needs? Your new Douglas County Health Department wants to hear from you.

If you’re child has a long-term medical need (such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy, leukemia, or gastrointestinal dysfunction); intellectual or developmental disabilities; or a behavioral health need (such as ADD, depression, or anxiety), we invite you to attend an upcoming community meeting and share your experience accessing the care your child needs.

The meeting will be from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, via Zoom. Registration is online.

The meeting agenda is designed to gather in-depth feedback about your experience, so we ask you to please plan to stay for the entire meeting. View the agenda and learn more online – click “Maternal and Child Health” on this webpage. If you can’t make the meeting, we still want to hear from you! Please use this online form to give us your feedback.

Your input is part of an overall community needs assessment focused on identifying existing resources and resource gaps for children or youth with unique medical needs. This assessment will help the Douglas County Health Department develop a strategy for supporting families with these needs.

A part of the new Douglas County Health Department, the Community Health Division focuses on building awareness of physical and behavioral health care conditions that most greatly impact the health and well-being of Douglas County residents. In addition to education, the Community Health Division is responsible for providing clinical services to community members and administering WIC.
