Potholes? Report them for repairs.

Getting a pothole repaired can be as easy as reporting it

Have you seen or driven over a pothole in your neighborhood or on your daily route? Your help is needed to report potholes in unincorporated Douglas County so Douglas County crews can locate them and make repairs.

To report a pothole, submit a report online, or email a pothole location or nearby address to [email protected].

Crews will be dispatched as quickly as possible to repair potholes that create a hazardous condition.

More potholes may be appearing right now because of temperature changes. Potholes are caused by the expansion and contraction of groundwater under pavement. When the water freezes, it fills more space under the pavement, which expands, bends and cracks, weakening the road surface. When the ice melts, the pavement contracts leaving gaps or voids under the surface. This ongoing freeze-thaw cycle weakens the pavement and allows the cracking to continue. The weight of vehicles continues to weaken and crack the pavement, and eventually, a pothole forms.

Douglas County will repair potholes on streets in unincorporated Douglas County. The Colorado Department of Transportation is beginning its pothole repair program for state roads. If you live in an incorporated city or town, such as Parker or Castle Rock, please check with your local jurisdiction for information on pothole repair.
