Help us invest in Douglas County’s youth with funding from the Denver Broncos sale

Is your organization’s work focused on bringing activities and programs to Douglas County youth? Do you have an idea in search of funding?

Now may be your opportunity to apply for financial support from the $939,363.21 in one-time funding, Douglas County’s share of profits from the sale of the Denver Broncos in 2022. Funding, through an online application process, will be awarded before the end of the year.  Visit our web page to submit your proposal, including a proposed budget.

As one of seven Counties in the Metropolitan Football Stadium District (MFSD), Douglas County was awarded the funds late last year that, by law, must be used for youth activities programs.

“This unexpected one-time money has the potential to change lives by our investment in youth activities programs,” said Douglas County Commissioner Lora Thomas. “On behalf of our Board, I am thankful and excited that we have this opportunity to hear from our community with ideas and equally excited that our appointed representatives on our Youth Initiative and Youth Commission will help guide our decision-making.”

The Douglas County Youth Initiative and the Douglas County Youth Commission will review and score the proposals and make recommendations to the Board of Douglas County Commissioners, based on the Board’s principles for funds dissemination:

  1. Accountability, transparency, & fiscal responsibility will guide the public process
  2. Applicants will be asked to quantify how many Douglas County youth will be impacted by the investment and the specific benefits youth will receive
  3. Youth activities programs must:
    1. Occur in Douglas County
    2. Be sustainable through this one-time funding opportunity
    3. Provide access for all youth, including those with disabilities
    4. Support Douglas County-based organizations with established access to and ability to reach local youth with their proposed youth activities program
  4. Douglas County will not fund proposals:
    1. From individual persons (i.e., those not associated with a Douglas County-based community organization, nonprofit, local government organization)
    2. From organizations with fewer than two years of demonstrated performance in providing youth activities programs for residents of Douglas County

Proposals are due Friday, July 28, and will be reviewed in August. Grant recipients will be notified in the fall and announced publicly in November at the annual State of the County event.
