Do you drive Lincoln Avenue in Lone Tree? You’ll want to hear about upcoming improvement plans. Following public meetings and analysis of traffic data and future projections, the project team will unveil plans to improve travel along Lincoln from Park Meadows Drive to Oswego Street, including the I-25 interchange and Havana Street intersection at a public meeting 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Lone Tree Arts Center, 10075 Commons St., Lone Tree.
A partnership between the City of Lone Tree, Douglas County and Denver South, the Advancing Lincoln Avenue Project is developing a long-term vision for addressing safety and mobility needs along Lincoln Avenue between Park Meadows Drive on the west side of I-25 and Oswego Street on the east side.
The project team reviewed current traffic data, and existing traffic conditions, and modeled future traffic operations through the project area (including planned land use changes for the Lone Tree City Center and Meridian developments) – which was used to guide the evaluation of alternatives.
Prior public meetings introduced the project and its purpose, displayed potential design alternatives and the criteria used to evaluate these alternatives, presented the proposed action and discussed why it was deemed the best option moving forward.
Since sharing the proposed action publicly in March 2023, project representatives have met with community stakeholders to make refinements and are now ready to present these plan refinements at the Oct. 26 meeting.
At this meeting, the City of Lone Tree will reveal its plan to deliver $9.9 million in multimodal improvements using local funds and $5.9 million allocated by the Denver Regional Council of Governments through the recent Transportation Improvement Program project selection process. These bicycle and pedestrian improvements are an integral part of the Lincoln Avenue Project and connect to the Lone Tree Mobility Hub being developed in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation.
This Bustang Mobility Hub will be built south of Lincoln Avenue and includes a new pedestrian bridge over I-25, access to regional bus services along I-25, and direct connections to pathways being planned as part of Lone Tree’s multimodal improvements.
