Learn more about the 2024 Precinct Caucus Meetings

The Democratic and Republican precinct caucuses will be held in March

Did you know Colorado is both a Presidential Primary Election and a caucus state? Voters affiliated with a political party can participate in both. Unaffiliated voters can participate in the Presidential Primary Election for one party of their choosing.

Caucuses are meetings of registered electors within a precinct who are members of a particular major political party. The purpose of precinct caucuses is to elect precinct committee persons and delegates to county assemblies.

Caucus meetings also provide party members the opportunity to sign up to serve as an election judge. Douglas County Elections hires paid election judges for important roles in the conduct of each election and must exhaust the list of major party appointees from the caucus meetings before hiring additional affiliated or unaffiliated election judges.

You do not need to attend a party caucus meeting to vote in the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. Eligible voters will receive a Presidential Primary Election ballot in the mail just like any other election.

To participate in a major political party’s precinct caucus, a citizen must be registered to vote, affiliated with that party, and a resident of the precinct – all for at least 22 days before the caucus date. Visit Colorado’s secure, statewide voter registration database, GoVoteColorado.gov, to register to vote, check your voter registration status, select your political affiliation, or update your mailing address.

Visit the Election Judge information page on DouglasVotes.com to learn about the different election judge roles required for the conduct of each election and to fill out the Election Judge Interest Survey if you would like to serve in a future election.

Join Clerk and Recorder, Sheri Davis, for a Live Town Hall from 6–7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Clerk Davis will be joined by other certified election officials from the Douglas County Elections office to answer your questions about the secure conduct of elections and the upcoming 2024 Presidential Primary.
