You’ve heard the phrase, “short-term pain for long-term gain.” Please keep that in mind as you navigate a series of closures at US 85 (Santa Fe Drive) and County Line Road Friday, Aug. 23, through Monday, Aug. 26. Please give yourself extra time or take an alternate route.
As part of the US 85 Widening Project in Highlands Ranch, crews are taking advantage of warm weather to accelerate paving and other weather-dependent work.

Wolhust Residents: Access in and out of the Wolhurst Neighborhood will only be accessible from County Line Road from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 to 5:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26. There will be no access to or from either direction of US 85 over the weekend. Click here to see details.
Here are the planned detours:
County Line Road to/from southbound US 85
Northbound US 85 from eastbound C470 off-ramp
Southbound US 85 from westbound C-470 off-ramp
If weather conditions arise over the weekend, preventing operations from taking place as scheduled, crews will continue the closure of southbound US 85 through Monday, Aug. 26.
Please give yourself extra time to navigate expected traffic throughout the closures and pay attention to posted speed limits and signage. Please watch for crews, heavy machinery and trucks entering and exiting the work zone. Heed the speed limit and avoid distracted driving in the work zone.
About the Work
Beginning Friday night, crews will close southbound US 85 north of County Line Road to pave the new southbound lanes through the intersection to the new C-470 bridge. During the night, crews will close northbound US 85 to pour concrete on the new bridge deck over C-470 and allow the concrete to cure while paving operations continue. To take advantage of the closures already in place, crews will also perform underground work on the C-470 ramps.
By conducting extended closures, crews are able to expedite paving operations and other weather-dependent construction activities, reducing the overall construction schedule.
The newly widened roadway and reconstructed interchange will alleviate traffic and create safer travel as part of the US 85 Widening Project and corridor improvements being made from Highlands Ranch Parkway to north of C-470 by Douglas County.
