In observance of the New Year, all Douglas County offices will be closed for on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, for normal business. Many County services are available 24/7 by visiting online services.

The Douglas County Hall of Fame celebrates individuals of all ages who go above and beyond to strengthen our community. Nominees selected by the Board of County Commissioners may be honored with a letter of recognition, at a public meeting, featured here on this page and/or presented with a ceremonial challenge coin, a timeless symbol of exceptional service and achievement.

2025 has been an incredible year for Douglas County, and it wouldn’t be possible without all the generous, compassionate and service-minded members of our community. What began as a simple way to recognize the good deeds happening around the County, the Hall of Fame has become an important touchstone on the importance of giving back.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is proud to honor individuals whose accomplishments reflect the excellence, dedication and spirit of Douglas County. This recognition may highlight acts of service, leadership in local organizations or outstanding contributions to public life, but it also extends to personal triumphs such as earning state or national honors, winning academic or athletic competitions or making a positive difference through creativity, innovation or perseverance.
The Board of Commissioners launched this initiative by honoring Howard Berger – a WWII Veteran, lifelong public servant and centenarian who says his proudest moments are those in which he helped fellow soldiers overseas. Mr. Berger was presented with a Douglas County Challenge Coin and became the first distinguished honoree in the Douglas County Hall of Fame on March 11, 2025.
