Language Access

It is Douglas County’s policy to ensure that programs and activities, normally provided in English are accessible to individuals who have Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and thus do not discriminate based on national origin in violation of Title VI prohibition against national origin discrimination. Douglas County will, to the maximum extent feasible in its official deliberations and communications, community outreach and related notifications provide appropriate alternative non-English formats for free to persons with LEP to access information and services provided.

It is Douglas County’s policy to provide free language assistance services whenever an LEP person requests language assistance services. Any organization that receives federal funding from Douglas County is required to have a Language Assistance Plan in place or to utilize this plan to comply with federal requirements. View the Language Assistance Plan here.

For assistance with language access please contact the Douglas County Mobility Manager at 303-660-7460 or by email at [email protected].

Reasonable Modification Policy

If you would like to request a reasonable modification to Douglas County policies, practices and/or procedures to assist in ensuring that our programs are accessible to individuals with disabilities, please send a request describing what is needed to use the service to [email protected] or contact the Douglas County Mobility Manager at 303-660-7460. Staff will use the following criteria to determine if a request is reasonable:

1) the request is not a fundamental alteration of the service;
2) the request is not a direct threat to the health or safety of others;
3) the request is not needed by the requester to use the service; and
4) the request does not result in undue financial or administrative burden.
