Manner and Cause of Death DataMedical examiner looking a paperwork and wearing a white coat

Did you know that it is the Coroner’s Office, not law enforcement, that determines cause and manner of death?

As an impartial and independent agency, the Douglas County Coroner’s Office provides unbiased and medically based determinations of the cause and manner of death in cases that fall within the office’s jurisdiction. That includes suspicious deaths as well as those that occur in hospices, hospitals and assisted living homes.

The below data is presented in full transparency to the citizens of Douglas County, medical professionals, members of the justice system and others who may need to better understand cause and manner of death in Douglas County. This data is updated daily.

Data Dashboard

We invite you to explore the report and interact with the different pages. You can select the year you want to view. The visualizations in the report are dynamic and interactive. Selecting an option on one table or graph will filter the other visualizations on the page accordingly.

For example, on the Suicide Deaths Page, when you click on Sex –>M, all visuals within the page will update to show data for male decedents only.

Accreditation

As of 2021, the Douglas County Coroner’s Office is accredited by the International Association Coroner’s & Medical Examiners.
The Douglas County Coroner’s Office is also a member of the Colorado Coroner’s Association.
