A global leader in aerospace technology has chosen our community for its expansion, bringing with it 20 high-quality jobs.
In partnership with the Douglas County Economic Development Corporation, Gov. Jared Polis, and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), announced today Safran Defense & Space, Inc. (Safran DSI) has chosen Parker, Colorado, as the location for their newest manufacturing facility.
This state-of-the-art facility will produce electric propulsion thrusters, offer space telemetry ground equipment workshops, and house satellite communications and ground domain awareness teams. The expansion is driven by Colorado’s thriving aerospace ecosystem – specifically in Douglas County – as well as the state’s exceptional workforce, and robust supply chain—qualities that make our region a natural choice for this global leader.
“One of our Board’s core priorities is to foster a business-friendly climate that enables all of our stakeholders – taxpayers and businesses alike – the opportunity to prosper,” said Commissioner Abe Laydon, founder of the Douglas County Economic Development Corporation. “But when thinking about expansion, business leaders also must think about where they want to live. In Douglas County, we prioritize public safety and often rank as one of the healthiest counties in the country. Our schools are some of the best in the nation. We invest in transportation and in preserving our natural resources. This is the recipe for economic vitality.”
“Colorado is strategically located and home to an aerospace ecosystem that will advance Safran’s long-standing commitment to investing in the U.S. and deliver our capabilities to meet the dynamic needs of the U.S. space market,” said Joe Bogosian, President and CEO of Safran Defense & Space, Inc.
Safran’s investment will lead to the creation of 20 new, high-quality jobs, including roles for engineers, technicians, and operators. These positions reflect Safran’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the dynamic needs of the U.S. space market, which is projected to exceed $5 billion by 2030.
“This is a significant win for Douglas County and Colorado as a whole. Safran’s presence highlights our commitment to building an economy rooted in cutting-edge technology and innovation,” said Ellie Reynolds, President & CEO of the Douglas County EDC.
The Douglas County Economic Development Corporation is the result of a merger between the Northwest Douglas County Chamber and EDC and the Douglas County Economic Development Collaborative in March 2024. With this merger and name change, the Board affirmed its commitment to broaden its reach and serve the entirety of the County, fostering a unified and elevated approach to economic development. The Douglas County EDC played a key role in bringing this project to fruition.
