Effective immediately Douglas County now under Governor Polis’ Stay at Home orders

Effective immediately, the citizens and businesses in Douglas County are now under the State of Colorado’s stay-at-home orders.

Moments ago, Tri-County Health Department issued a statement rescinding their stay at home orders originally issued on March 25.

In the Tri-County statement is the message that their action will “ensure social distancing requirements are consistent across the state, and that our communities are not confused by multiple orders.”

“While Tri-County Health Department is rescinding their stay-at-home orders, we are asking their officials to work with us and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to modify the state order consistent with specific needs of Douglas County. If CDPHE is unwilling or unable to modify, we will ask CDPHE for waivers,” said Roger Partridge, Chair, Board of Douglas County Commissioners. “We will continue to keep you informed as we seek their collaboration on our behalf,” said Partridge.

You may still leave your home to take care of your health and safety, as well as for others in your home, including your pets.  This includes going to the grocery store, the pharmacy, pick up and drop off your laundry and dry cleaning, pick up to-go food – all considered essential trips. Banks and health care providers are also considered essential businesses.

Go for a hike, take a walk, ride your bike. Just do so keeping at least six feet away from the nearest person.

We know this is a difficult time for us all.  As part of a Countywide effort toward healing our communities from the impacts of COVID-19, partners from the public, private and non-profit sectors have worked together to provide a centralized Community Response resource page. Please visit DouglasCOVID19.com and share this resource as a one-stop source of information on public health, human needs recovery, economic recovery and volunteer programs to help our citizens.

Also a reminder, while our County buildings are closed, Douglas County is open for business.  County departments and offices are staffed remotely in support of ongoing County services delivery. For changes in service delivery associated with the current COVID-19 public health crisis, visit  COVID-19 and Your County Services. For a full list of online services, please visit DoItOnlineDouglas.com where you will find 49 services in one location.

And finally, recognize that everyone is part of the solution to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Stay safely at home except for essential trips; create physical distance from others when you are outside your home; use your favorite technology to maintain important relationships. These actions combined will limit our collective risk and save lives.
