There’s nothing quite like sharing in the excitement of a child experiencing a rodeo for the first time. You’re invited to enjoy those moments at a new event at the 2023 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, the Exceptional Rodeo at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30.

The Exceptional Rodeo is tailored to children with special needs between the ages of 4 to 12 years old because of the size of the obstacles, but all ages are welcome. Children will experience adapted events such as stick-horse barrel races, stuffed bucking bulls and broncs and try their hand at roping. Each participant receives a T-shirt, cowboy hat and a trophy.

Parents of children with special needs may still register their children online to participate.

All families are welcome to attend the Exceptional Rodeo for free and watch from the grandstands. Once the event is completed, you may also head to the arena floor for a closer look and to meet the Pikes Peak Rangerettes and Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Royalty.

The 2023 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo runs July 28 – Aug. 6 and is packed full of family fun, food and memory-making events. Visit the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo website for the full schedule.
