Whether you’re a business leader, elected official, parent, faith-based servant, educator, volunteer or student, our community benefits from your leadership and heart of service. You’re invited to join your fellow citizens and Commissioner Abe Laydon to infuse lessons from Harvard University into what you’re already doing for our community.
Laydon recently attended the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program, and he wants to share what he learned with you.
Pack a lunch and join him from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Hearing Room at the Philip S. Miller Building, 100 Third St. in Castle Rock. If you would like to attend in person, please RSVP to [email protected] by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25. Space is limited.
The meeting will also be live streamed on the County’s YouTube channel and recorded for later viewing.
“The immersive experience at the Harvard Kennedy School gave me new skills and insights that I use every day in my role as an elected leader,” Laydon said. “I learned from the world’s top local government and leadership experts, and I’m excited to share a few nuggets with you.”
The cost for Laydon to attend the program was about one nickel per resident. He’ll have on hand the nickel reimbursement for every resident who attends.
Laydon was elected Douglas County Commissioner, District I, in November 2018 and began serving his second term in January 2023. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of County Commissioners.
His top priorities as County Commissioner include cutting taxes, providing real transportation solutions, ensuring responsible growth, working collaboratively with law enforcement and the school board to ensure we have proven safety solutions ready and in place to protect our kids, and making certain we have clean and abundant air and water for generations to come.
