Radon

Castle Rock mesa and homes stand in front of a snow covered Pikes Peak with Interstate 25 winding its way to the snowy Rocky Mountains, Castle Rock, Colorado.

Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that occurs naturally. Radon gas moves up through the soil into homes and buildings. New homes are at the same risk for high radon levels as older homes. Exposure to radon doesn’t cause short-term symptoms of illness, but it can cause lung cancer. Radon testing is required in child care facilities. Learn more about radon testing, health effects, and mitigation systems.

Test for radon to determine if your home needs a radon mitigation system. If you are a resident of Colorado, you can order a free radon test kit (limit one per household). Complete an online form, and a test kit will be shipped to you.
