Inspections (Health Department)

The Douglas County Health Department protects the health of the community by performing inspections of restaurants (retail food establishments), child care facilities, body art facilities, septic systems, and landfills.

Inspection reports can be viewed by visiting My Health Department. Search for inspection reports by keyword, or browse all reports by date range. Other inspection reports are available upon written request via an open record request.

Local public health agencies in Colorado cannot give letter grades to restaurants based on the results of their inspection reports. In 2017, C.R.S 25-4-1607.7 created a uniform system for reporting health inspection results. Paraphrasing, it states: “The uniform system must provide meaningful and reasonably detailed information to the public and must not summarize the results of the inspection with a letter, number, or symbol grading system, or a similar, oversimplified method of quantifying results.”

The Health Department also follows up on complaints. To submit a complaint, visit My Health Department to create an account and enter the complaint.
