Did you know an average of 500 people visit the Bluffs Regional Park Trail in Lone Tree daily? Due to this heavy traffic and our extreme Colorado weather, the trail has eroded, leaving it potentially dangerous for users. Since December, crews have been working on the reconstruction of the southwest portion of the loop.
Now crews are beginning the next portion of work, which requires 85 truckloads of material to be brought onsite. All of this material will be added to the trails, making them smoother for users and more resilient to erosion.
To keep visitors safe and away from the haul traffic, portions of the East-West Regional Trail and the Bluffs Regional Trail will be closed Monday, March 24, through Friday, April 4. With large trucks driving through the area, it will not be safe for cyclists or pedestrians to navigate the area. For your safety, please respect the barricades and do not attempt to enter the closed areas.
Hikers can still access the Bluffs Regional Trail out and back by starting at the trailhead and using the north portion of the 2.5-mile loop until the closure area is reached and then returning to the trailhead. View a map of the work area. Cyclists can travel on the East-West Regional Trail either east or west of the park but cannot navigate the trail from end to end during this time.
