Making it easier to reopen for business in Douglas County

Waivers allow businesses to address COVID-19 safety

As your County businesses, retailers and restaurants work to reopen, you may need to make modifications to your facilities to accommodate social distancing and other measures to minimize the transmission of COVID-19.

To allow businesses to make operational modifications quickly and inexpensively, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners recently adopted a resolution that temporarily enables the Planning Director to grant Disaster Emergency Waivers to some zoning requirements.

A few examples of modifications that may be requested are expanding the seating area of a restaurant into a patio area, converting parking areas to drive-up lanes to provide curbside takeout, or adding an external door to enable better circulation within a store.

Businesses located in unincorporated Douglas County who desire to make such modifications should contact Planning Services at 303-660-7460 or [email protected] to inquire about your specific needs.
