Partnership produces remarkable results in Douglas County

CO House of Representatives recognizes Partnership of Douglas County Governments 20th anniversary

Nine Douglas County governments, serving nearly 380,000 residents, were honored today by the Colorado House of Representatives who recognized the 20th Anniversary of the local group’s Partnership of Douglas County Governments (PDCG).

For the past 20 years, through their mutual commitment to a single organization, leadership from the Towns of Castle Rock, Larkspur and Parker; the City of Castle Pines; the City of Lone Tree; Douglas County; the Douglas County School District; Douglas County Libraries; and the Highlands Ranch Metro District have focused their attention on common ground – for the common good of the communities they serve.

During the past 20 years PDCG accomplishments have included the organization’s signature achievements:  the Housing Partnership and the Youth Initiative; the Douglas County Mental Health Initiative; collaborative emergency management and public safety; transportation; open space, parks, trails, and recreation initiatives; health and human services initiatives; as well as specific public health initiatives, such as their 18-month COVID-19 Community Response.

While many of their more high-profile achievements received attention and recognition, some of the greatest achievements by this group have been on those issues resolved long before they became an issue – due to the trust and investments made in one another in all the ways required to get through rough times with relationships intact.

Their common mission, birthed through a commitment to statesmanship, today continues to unite the previously unlikely compatriots with a mission “to build and maintain relationships, foster communication and share information among local governmental entities for the purpose of identifying and achieving cost savings; improvements in operations, programming efficiency; and service enhancements countywide.”

And, with those goals in mind, several times a year the Partnership’s elected leadership and key staff meet – committed to strengthening intergovernmental and jurisdictional relationships, promoting greater understanding of individual community needs, and generating opportunities for creation and sustainability of regional solutions.
