Flood Plain Information

National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System (NFIP CRS)

Douglas County Engineering provides flood management services to the community, including efforts to minimize impacts to citizens and their property from flooding incidents. Our staff, along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA),  determined and developed flood prevention processes for County citizens. As a result of those efforts, FEMA has increased the County’s NFIP CRS from a Class 7 to a Class 5 which began May 1, 2020, for a 5-year cycle. The floodplain management activities implemented by the County qualify for a 25 percent discount (up from a 15 percent discount based on the previous cycle verification) on flood insurance premiums for NFIP policies issued or renewed in Special Flood Hazard Areas on or after May 1, 2020.

All Products and Services Free of Charge – Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), Flood Insurance Studies (FIS) and all other information available on the MSC may be accessed and downloaded at no cost. This move realizes considerable efficiencies, enabling FEMA to retire a series of legacy applications that supported the purchase and delivery of products. These applications include the Digital Post Office (DPO), Express Document Delivery (EDDie) and EDDie for Disasters.
