The Rueter-Hess Reservoir is located on Hess Road, one mile east of I-25 at the Castle Pines Parkway exit. The reservoir is owned by the Parker Water Sanitation District for purposes of providing drinking water storage. The Rueter-Hess Recreational Authority (RHRA) is a partnership that provides recreational opportunities for the public at the Rueter-Hess Reservoir.
The partnership includes the cities of Castle Pines and Lone Tree, the Towns of Castle Rock and Parker, Douglas County and the Parker Water & Sanitation District. For 2022, the RHRA contracted with South Suburban Park and Recreation District to manage and provide recreational programming and services on behalf of the RHRA.
