If you’ve spent an afternoon hiking a Douglas County trail, ridden your horse in one of our wide-open spaces, or taken your furry friend to local dog park, high-five those who shop and dine here.
Since 1994, a voter-approved 0.17% sales and use tax has helped preserve open space and protect parks throughout Douglas County – including many municipal amenities. The funding can’t be used for anything else. But this funding source expires in 2024.
The Board of County Commissioners wants your feedback as they consider placing an extension of this sales tax on the November ballot. Join the conversation during Live Town Hall meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27.
The Live Town Hall will be in-person at the Philip Miller Building, 100 Third St. in Castle Rock. Those who join in-person will have an opportunity to speak personally with commissioners and panelists after the hour-long event.

During the Live Town Hall, you will hear from Douglas County staff about how the funding has been used since 1994 and from the citizen group that is proposing ballot language.
