The Crystal Valley interchange project is nearing a significant milestone, with the new portion of East Frontage Road and the roundabout at Crystal Valley Parkway set to open to traffic next week.
To tie in the new Crystal Valley Parkway roundabout to the existing East Frontage Road, a weekend-long closure of portions of East Frontage Road and Crystal Valley Parkway will be in effect from approximately 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4.
Residents of the Crystal Valley and Montaine neighborhoods will need to use either Plum Creek Boulevard or West Frontage Road to access their neighborhoods during this time.
New traffic configuration begins approximately 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4
Once the project team completes the tie-in of the new portions of East Frontage Road to the existing pavement, motorists will use the newly relocated East Frontage Road and the new roundabout intersection at Crystal Valley Parkway.
The new traffic configuration will allow for the new Crystal Valley Parkway bridge over Interstate 25 and connecting northbound I-25 on- and off-ramps to be constructed.
Pile-driving activities to hammer steel beams into the soil are also expected to begin late this week as part of bridge foundation work. Nearby residents should expect increased noise and ground vibrations on weekdays during normal work hours (between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.).
Increased truck traffic and heavy machinery should be expected in the area. Throughout the project, please watch for flagging operations and daytime and nighttime lane closures on surrounding streets and on I-25. Heed the speed limit and avoid distracted driving.
The interchange is a top transportation priority for the Town. It will improve safety and mobility in the surrounding community and provide a key regional transportation link from I-25 to southern Castle Rock and Douglas County.
