Wherever you live in Douglas County – the suburbs of Parker or nestled against the Pike National Forest – wildfires are the No. 1 safety hazard. But, together, we can reduce the risk.
Douglas County is updating its Community Wildfire Protection Plan – a document that defines how we, as a community, can proactively protect life and property. The first step in updating this plan is your input. Please take this online survey before Tuesday, April 26. Your participation in this 15-minute survey will help us understand perceived risks, plan evacuation protocols, and develop educational programs.
Large-scale Community Wildfire Protection Plans identify risks and ways to reduce those risks by helping fire districts and HOAs develop their own CWPP tailored to each unique community. These plans lead to the organization of community clean-up days and workshops, local-level evacuation plans and homeowner education to create defensible spaces. The plan also provides an opportunity for the County to receive federal funding for reducing hazardous natural fuel sources.
